Sony Announces a Big Hike in PlayStation Plus Prices
In the latest announcement, Sony decided to raise their PlayStation Plus subscription prices starting next month. The company has emphasized that the price hike will help it bring high-quality games and features to the service.
They have increased the prices across all tiers globally which will be effective from 6th September onwards. The Plus tier is increasing up to $80/year, with the Extra tier increasing to $135/year. Meanwhile, the Premium will go up to $160/year. Let’s take a look at the price details.

Here’s the breakdown of the new subscription prices:
- PlayStation Plus Essential 12-Month Subscription: $79.99 / £59.99/ €71.99
- PlayStation Plus Extra 12-Month Subscription: $134.99 / £99.99 / €125.99
- PlayStation Plus Premium 12-Month Subscription: $159.99 / £119.99 / €151.99
The current users of PlayStation Plus will not be affected by this price increase until their next renewal date after 6th November. This announcement came shortly after Microsoft decided to raise prices for Xbox Game Pass.
